Great Dane attack prompts advisory

Police are reminding dog owners that it is their responsibility to control their pets at all times after a two-year-old child was attacked by a Great Dane on Vanier Drive.
The incident happened on June 19 as the dog was being walked by a relative of the child, a news release said.
The two-year-old sustained injuries to the right hear and left upper arm, and puncture wounds to the upper back and stomach. The child was taken to Guelph General Hospital for treatment and was then transported to McMaster Children’s Hospital.
The dog’s owners were at work when the incident happened, and the dog was removed from the scene by the Humane Society.
