Guelph police all a twitter during Homecoming

The Guelph Police Service will be offering people a virtual ride-along this weekend to give the public a taste of how busy police really are during Homecoming Weekend.
The service has announced that it will host another Tweet-a-Thon on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and also from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. the next morning, to allow people to follow police activities on Twitter.
“Last year, we hosted two tweet-a-thons during Project Safe Semester and on St. Patrick’s Day,” police spokesperson Sgt. Doug Pflug said in a news release. “We have found it a great way to reach out to the community and provide insight into what we do during this virtual ride-a-long.”
The goals of the initiative are to engage community groups and businesses; to promote the work of police officers; to solicit feedback from the community; to provide information during serious incidents and emergencies; to create positive police-youth interactions; and to cross-promote and market community partner events, the release said.
