Impaired driver tries his hand as cabbie

Police caught an impaired driver trying to take money to drive people home from downtown bars last weekend.
Police found the intoxicated man in the driver’s seat of a vehicle on Cork Street East at around 3:15 a.m. Sunday. He had been trying to illegally drive patrons home from the downtown for compensation, a news release said.
The man became combative with police during his arrest, it said.
A 24-year-old man was charged with impaired car and control, three counts of assaulting police and uttering death threats. He was also charged with picking up a passenger for compensation without authority, failure to surrender permit for a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
