Information centre eyes sewage issues in Rockwood

The Township of Guelph/Eramosa is inviting people to have their say about what happens to Rockwood’s sewage at an upcoming public information centre in the village.
The township currently has an agreement with Guelph to provide wastewater treatment for Rockwood’s sewage.
The agreement dates back to 1977.
Average daily sewage flows in the village have steadily increased over the years and are now reaching the treatment capacity agreed upon with the city, a news release said.
The township has started an environmental assessment process to determine the best alternative to provide treatment for the remainder of the developable lands in the village, it said.
Part of the process is public consultation, and the township has scheduled a drop-in public information centre on Aug. 30 from 4 to 7 p.m. at its offices, 8348 Wellington Road 124, in Rockwood.
The centre will present the proposed project and the preliminary preferred solution, and will also encourage, gather and respond to public input and feedback.
Presentation materials related to the project will be made available on the township’s website, www.get.on.ca, following the meeting.
