Although details have yet to be finalized, there will be a public funeral for Guelph Const. Jennifer Kovach on Thursday, March 21 at 11:30 a.m. at Sleeman Centre. The Guelph Police Service made the announcement Friday in a news release and said residents can expect further details early next week
The following is the news release in its entirety:
“The Guelph Police Service would like to express our sincere appreciation to the community for the continued support, care and compassion as we mourn the loss of our colleague, Constable Jennifer Kovach.
“The Kovach family has generously agreed to a public funeral to celebrate and remember the life of Jennifer. Although details of the funeral continue to be finalized, the funeral will take place on Thursday, March 21 at 11:30am at the Sleeman Centre, 50 Woolwich Street, Guelph.
“Members of the community can anticipate further details early next week. Please continue to visit guelphpolice.com and guelph.ca as information will be posted online as well as communicated through our Public Information Officer.
“On behalf of the Police Services Board, I would like to publicly acknowledge the tremendous community support for the Police Service and its members. Your continued support brings a sense of comfort to the Service during this difficult time as they mourn the loss of Constable Kovach” said Judy Sorbara, Chair of the Board.

“On March 14, 2013, Constable Jennifer Kovach, a four-year member of the Guelph Police Service died as a result of an on-duty collision while responding to a call for police assistance.”
