Hundreds of elementary teachers marched up and down the street in front of local MPP Liz Sandals’ office Friday as part of a series of rolling one-day strikes that are happening across the province to protest Bill 115. While high school teachers in the Upper Grand District School Board have ratified a new contract, elementary school teachers have yet to do so. They have until Dec. 31 to do so, and if they don’t the legislation gives the province the power to impose one. Sandals did come out to address the picketers, who walked the line in one morning and one afternoon shift. Local high school students were expected to stage their own protest at the same location Monday.
