Mayor’s levee includes funding announcement

Canadian singer-songwriter and award-winning children’s entertainer Jack Grunsky will perform at the mayor’s second annual New Year’s levee at city hall on Jan. 12.
Grunsky, winner of four Junos for his recordings for children, will perform three free mini-concerts during the event, which runs from 1 to 4 p.m.
Mayor Karen Farbridge is also expected to announce the donation of a major gift to Market Square, a news release said.
“The generosity of many donors in our community made this wonderful public space possible. I’m pleased that one of the lead donors has extended that generosity to help us animate the space year round,” said Farbridge in the release.
Grunsky will perform at 1, 2 and 3 p.m., and Farbridge will make her announcement at 1:30 p.m.
Children’s activities, crafts, hot chocolate, cookies and skating will also be part of the event.
“It is always nice to see families, neighbours, friends and colleagues come together to celebrate the new year in style,” said Farbridge in a news release. “I welcome everyone to attend this wonderful event. Occasions like this keep our community connected and strengthen relationships.”
