Meeting addresses plans for Silvercreek Parkway

People can learn more about plans to connect the two ends of Silvercreek Parkway at a public information centre to be held in the main foyer of city hall on Wednesday Feb. 15.
The 6-8 p.m. event is the second public session being held as part of an environmental assessment of the project, which is related to plans to redevelop the former Lafarge quarry lands. The project involves construction of an underpass beneath the rail line just south of Paisley Road.
Representatives of the city and its consultants will be at the meeting to answer questions and talk about the next steps in the process, and comments from the public will be collected, the city says.

Funny was just thinking about this “project” the other day… unfortunately will not be avaiable for the meeting.
This is such a bad idea. The only thing this will do is increase traffic on Waterloo Ave. Paisley and Edinburgh. These three streets are in the words of city employee “at their maximum” and need to be looking at ways to divert traffic from this area. Obviously the OMB didnt give a hoot about this and rammed the decsion for this developement down Guelphs throat. Guelph spent millions on developing Wellington and the Hanlon for this same reason. Guelph planners time to fight back.
Anyone going to the meeting …
1- restrict left and right turns onto Paisley from this ” new road”to ensure that Paisley does not become the new Wellington
2- have Silvercreek be a straight road to Wellington not to Waterloo then Wellington. Thus forcing the use of Welling 4 lanes instead of Edinburgh and Waterloo. No through traffic from Waterloo Ave to Silvercreek.
Too many schools in the area and the roads in the area are just not realistically able to handle the increase in traffic. Especially if you consider the times of day they are shut down due to rail traffic.
These two small things should not take away from already existing traffic flow and will divert the increase to the roads meant to accomodate it Wellington and the Hanlon.
