More flu shot clinics

With cases of flu on the rise, the local health unit has added another drop-in flu shot clinic this month to encourage more people to get the shot.
“Reports from community partners indicated that the number of flu cases is increasing and that the number of cases confirmed by laboratory tests is up over last year,” said medical officer of health Dr. Nicola Mercer in a news release.
“Fortunately, the vaccine is a very good math for the predominant flu strain circulating this year,” she said.
Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health will hold a drop-in vaccination clinic on Jan. 18 from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at the Shelldale Crescent office.
The clinic is one of three being offered this week, with the other two taking place in Fergus and Orangeville.
“The flu shot is the best way to protect yourself and those around you from the flu,” said Mercer. “Everyone should consider getting the shot from their doctor, a participating pharmacy or through Public Health.”
