New group calls itself New Hope Animal Rescue

A new animal rescue group called New Hope Animal Rescue, formed by local veterinarian Dr. Kate Flanigan and others, has launched a website that already features some young cats in need of homes.

“New Hope Animal Rescue is currently completing its new website and already has some wonderful cats and kittens available for adoption,” said a news release Monday.

“New Hope encourages the public to check out their website regularly at to find a future furry family member, in addition to upcoming events.”

New Hope Animal Rescue was formed on Oct. 21 at a meeting attended by Flanigan and several of S. A. V. E.’s former board and committee members, as well as volunteers, Flanigan said in the release.

“Many of the original goals developed by the former S. A. V. E. members will persist through New Hope Animal Rescue,” the release said. These include finding permanent homes for animals and providing community support for homeless animals.

In the long term, New Hope aims to “contribute to education and prevention initiatives to help tackle the pet overpopulation problem and to develop a low-cost spay/neuter program,” it said.

New Hope Animal Rescue is inviting community members to “put on their thinking caps” for an upcoming logo designing contest. Details of the contest will be announced shortly on its website.
