Inspector Scott Lawson is taking the lead at the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police detachment. The County of Wellington hired Lawson as its new OPP detachment commander, making the announcement late last week. “Inspector Lawson has a deep understanding of the policing environment and brings top leadership and management skills to his role,” Lynda White, the county’s police services board chair, said in a news release. Lawson started his career with the City of Stratford in 1986, and has since worked in a variety of detachments across Ontario, including working as deputy director of Provincial Traffic Operations for the Highway Safety Division, the release said. He holds an active position with the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police. Lawson will take over as detachment commander on Oct. 15.
