Pedestrian hit, hurt seriously

A 60-year-old man suffered serious injuries after being hit by a car on Dawson Road on Tuesday evening.

The incident happened around 7:20 p.m. The man was crossing Dawson Road when he was hit by a Mazda driven by a 26-year-old Guelph man, a news release said.

The pedestrian was taken to Guelph General Hospital and was later airlifted to St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto with serious injuries, it said.

A portion of Dawson Road was closed for five hours while police investigated the collision.
