Several parties were broken up and 10 kegs were seized during St. Patrick’s Day revelry Sunday, but overall police say celebrations were manageable.
“There were no big disruptions to the community,” a news release said.
The keg parties started early, with the Guelph Police Service tweeting that one south end party was closed down at 11:42 a.m. From that party, four kegs were seized and about 300 young adults were sent on their way, the Twitter post said.
Liquor Licence Act charges were laid against the homeowner.
Two more homeowners were also charged under the act for keg parties on Paisley Street and Dean Avenue. Two kegs were seized from the Paisley party, and another four were seized on Dean Avenue.
Overall, 30 noise complaints were investigated resulting in 10 bylaw charges, the release said.
As well, there were nine arrests for public intoxication, eight charges for open liquor and four charges for public urination, it said.
