Thousands of Guelphites gave generously this year to help the Salvation Army fill about 1,400 food and gift hampers for needy families. About 200 volunteers came to the citadel throughout the day Tuesday to pack the hampers in an assembly line of carts and food stations that included 640 bags of potatos, 900 bags each of carrots and apples, 640 boxes of stuffing and 900 packets of gravy. More volunteers delivered the gift and food hampers to families on Dec. 23.
