Tentative deal with firefighters

Though details have not yet been released, the city has announced a tentative deal with the Guelph Professional Firefighters Association.
“The city was committed throughout the negotiations to reach a settlement that is fair to Guelph’s firefighters and Guelph taxpayers,” the city’s executive director of corporate and human resources Mark Amorosi said in a news release. “We’re pleased to amicably reach this milestone in the collective bargaining process.”
The tentative two-year deal will be dated January 2013 to December 2014. Details of the agreement will be released after it has been ratified by the firefighters association and by city council.
“We believe this deal is fair to our members and the taxpayers of Guelph,” firefighters association president Colin Hunter said in the release.
