U of G search for president begins

The University of Guelph is getting ready to find a replacement for Alastair Summerlee, whose second term as president will end on June 30, 2014.
Dick Freeborough, chair of the university’s Board of Governors, has asked that the process for establishing a presidential selection committee be initiated, a news release said.
This will allow a new president to be ready to move into the role by the summer of 2014.
In keeping with the university’s established policy for presidential searches, a selection committee will be appointed, the release said. It will include faculty, staff and student representatives.
After consulting widely to help with the development of a position profile and to encourage suggestions of suitable candidates, the committee will carry out a confidential search leading to a recommendation to the Board of Governors, the release said.
