City hall is seeking input from city residents this month to learn what people like about living in Guelph and what would improve their quality of life.
As part of the city’s Guelph Community Wellbeing Initiative, a series of “ward conversations” are being held until Sept. 20. It’s a chance to discuss what matters in life and how to work together to improve the well-being of individuals, neighbourhoods and the Guelph community, a news release said.
City general manager of community engagement Barbara Powell said: “We’ve already heard from thousands of residents who completed our community survey in July. Now, we’re still seeking additional input to make sure everyone has a chance to shape Guelph’s future.”
Two 7-9 p.m. meetings will be held for Ward 2 – on Sept. 12 in the Evergreen Seniors Centre and on Sept. 13 in New Life Christian Reformed Church, 400 Victoria Rd. N.
A Ward 5 meeting will be held at Centennial Collegiate on Sept. 19 from 7-9 p.m. A Ward 1 meeting will be held on Sept. 20 from 7-9 p.m. at Victoria Road Recreation Centre. And a Ward 4 meeting will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Sept. 20 at Lion’s Lair in the West End Community Centre.
A Ward 2 meeting will be scheduled later. Ward 6 had a meeting last Thursday.
City hall is also encouraging input during September in other ways, including completing a comment card at recreation centres, library branches or other city facilities. For more ways to provide input, visit guelphwellbeing.ca
Using the Canadian Index of Wellbeing, the city and its partners are measuring Guelph’s quality of life in terms of community vitality, democratic engagement, environment, education, time use, health, leisure and culture and living standards, the release said.
The aim is to develop a shared understanding and vision for Guelph’s future so the city and community partners can make better decisions, improve programs and policies, and increase the well-being of people, neighbourhoods and the community as a whole, it said.
