Winterfest activites abound throughout city

Neighbourhood groups across the city will gather people together this Sunday, Feb. 2, to revel in the fun of winter during Winterfest 2014.
The free city-wide celebration includes a variety of family-friendly winter-themed activities, ranging from tobogganing and skating to ice sculpting and crafts. Among the participants are:
• Brant Avenue Neighbourhood Group – seasonal outdoor games and activities from 1 to 3 p.m. at Brant Park, 601 Woodlawn Rd. E., and at Brant Avenue school, 64 Brant Ave.
• City of Guelph – free family skate from 1 to 3 p.m. at Centennial Arena, 376 College Ave. W.
• Downtown Neighbourhood Association – community engagement and celebration with hot chocolate and cookies from 1 to 4 p.m. at Market Square ice rink, 1 Carden St.
• Exhibition Park Neighbourhood Group – free family skate from 1 to 1:50 p.m. at Exhibition Arena, 70 Division St., with entertainment, crafts, games and refreshments until 3 p.m.
• Grange Hill East Neighbourhood Group – tobogganing, outdoor games, hot chocolate, pizza and prizes, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Peter Misersky Park on Auden Road.
• Hanlon Creek Neighbourhood Group – skating, sledding, snow painting, bird watching, indoor crafts, wieners and beans and refreshments, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Jean Little school, 56 Youngman Dr.
• Kortright Hills Neighbourhood Group – skating, scavenger hunt, snow/ice sculptures, snowman building, snow painting and hot chocolate, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Mollison Park, 85 Downey Rd.
• Our Three Bridges – skating, games, hot chocolate and cider, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Royal City Park and the ice rink at Water and Mary streets.
• Parkwood Gardens Neighbourhood Group – indoor crafts and games, refreshments and outdoor winter fun, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Gateway Drive school, 33 Gateway Dr.
• Sunny Acres Park – barbecue, apple cider and hot chocolate, skating and games, from 1 to 4 p.m. at 45 Edinburgh Rd. Please bring a donation for the food bank.
• Two Rivers Neighbourhood Group – nature walk, ice sculpting, skating, hockey, snow shoe and ski races, ice painting and hot chocolate, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Lyon Park.
• Waverley Neighbourhood Group – fun, games and refreshments at Waverley Drive school, 140 Waverley Dr., and Waverley Park, 76 Balmoral Dr., from 1 to 3 p.m.
• West Willow Village – offering skating, sledding, snow games and “warm-at-heart” activities in the gym at Westwood school, 495 Willow Rd, from 1 to 4 p.m.
