Woodlawn Road building smashed in theft attempt

Police are looking for some would-be thieves who smashed up a building on Woodlawn Road in an attempt to steal a cash machine.

Police were called to a Woodlawn Road business around 3:15 a.m. on Wednesday after unknown individuals used a stolen pickup truck to smash the front doors, a news release said.

The culprits tried to remove an ATM from the business, but the damage to the building prevented them from doing so, the release said.

The stolen pickup truck was left behind, and the culprits left the area in a small black car travelling in an unknown direction.

Damage to the building is estimated at more than $75,000.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Const. Gould at 519-824-1212, ext. 7056.
