The Kiwanis Music Festival of Guelph, which is celebrating its 32nd anniversary, is a fine musical tradition here, as it is elsewhere. Entrants get a shot not only at local honours, but also at provincial and national ones. Choirs and bands enliven the festival and enrich the students who participate in them. So it’s very disappointing that teachers in local public schools haven’t entered any bands or choirs in the local Kiwanis festival so far. Here’s hoping the labour situation in the public schools improves in time for something to be salvaged from this sad situation.
