Long story short: I fell on ice while walking on Stone Road in Guelph and broke my leg. It became a wonderful experience due to the several cars that stopped and the people who swarmed around me offering their assistance.
These are the wonderful people of Guelph. I also had the good fortune to fall just as a retired firefighter, Kirk Swinson, was passing. Kirk was very professional and efficient in handling the crowd and my injury, transferring me into the care of friends who spent the remainder of the day with me as I received treatment. Thanks to them and to everyone at the scene (most of whom I do not know !) who were offering their cars, cellphones, hands and legs to get me off to medical care.
The emergency department at Guelph General was swamped with countless ice-related injuries, yet the staff provided high quality, efficient and timely care with warmth and smiles. Thank you!
