My son is currently fighting colon cancer for the second time at the age of 25. While this is a difficult time for him and our family, we have been blessed with a great gift – his friends and co-workers.
In a time when people are engaged in their own struggles to make ends meet, these blessings have rallied around and supported him with their love, humour and understanding. They have even helped financially, as bill collectors do not grasp how debilitating cancer is both physically and financially.
He has made new friends at the oncology department at Guelph General Hospital who provide emotional support during chemotherapy.
I just want people out there to know that angels do exist and we have been privileged to call them friends.
