Editorial: The cat days of summer

Guelph showed once again that its heart is in the right place in its response to the Guelph Humane Society’s call for help in dealing with an unusual influx of unwanted and homeless kittens and cats.

Not only were 51 felines adopted in less than two weeks after the humane society offered a half-price adoption fee, but people also helped  by donating money and such items such as canned food, pet litter and toys.

Humane society officials say the public response was “overwhelming.”

We may be in the dog days of summer, but fortunately we’ve been thinking of cats.
