Guelph hometown hockey the way to go

The launch of a new National Hockey League season has been stalled by the contract standoff between rich team owners and rich players, but here in Guelph hockey is poised for the annual September take-off. A new Guelph Storm season starts Friday night, with a second game set for Sunday afternoon at the Sleeman Centre.
The Storm’s new season is beginning with considerable hope, as always, and with predictions it will be a high-octane team playing games that will be a lot of fun to watch.
It’s a chance to see Ontario Hockey League players with dreams of making the NHL while they’re still developing, still in the process of becoming. This year’s crop of fresh Storm faces can be seen on Page 41 of today’s edition. Storm games are also affordable entertainment that’s close to home.
With the NHL providing little more than frustration at the moment, there’s even more reason than usual to follow and support Guelph’s home team. Go Storm go!
