As the River Run Centre kicks off its 15th season Sunday afternoon with a children’s theatre show, it’s a good time to think thankful thoughts about this jewel in Guelph’s cultural crown. Within the first week of its new season, the River Run is also bringing to town the comic power couple of Colin Mochrie and Debra McGrath, celebrated Canadian classical pianist Jamie Parker and a trio led by veteran Canadian jazz pianist Oliver Jones. It’s just the start of numerous shows the River Run is bringing in over the next several months, giving local audiences access to high-quality entertainment right here in Guelph. On top of the River Run’s own offerings, of course, are the shows stages by community groups in the River Run’s two halls and the shows put on by outside acts that rent the halls. It’s a lot for which to be thankful.
