I am responding to the letter to the editor “Sidewalk plows not doing the job” (Tribune, March 14).
The last snowfall that we had was so heavy and wet I could hardly clear my own drive, let alone do the walk in front of my home. I agree that the sidewalk plows could do a better job, but they are better then nothing.
When the grader went down my street, it was going so fast that it pushed
all the heavy, wet snow from the road over the four feet of snow on my boulevard. Most of it landed on the sidewalk. The sidewalk plow moved most of that out of the way, so I could clear it afterwards.
I agree that city sidewalk plows could do a better job, but they get the worst off so we can clear the rest down to bare sidewalk.
