Sidewalk plows not doing the job

I believe the recent deep-freeze has created the ideal conditions to illustrate why the city should not be clearing snow from residential sidewalks.
Any snow that remained on the sidewalks from the recent storm froze into a lumpy mess that was nearly impossible to walk on. The city’s sidewalk plows and snow blowers can’t (or won’t) get down to bare pavement, which leave us with unwalkable sidewalks.
I hope when next year’s budget is planned that sidewalk snow removal is removed from the budget. We’re not getting our money’s worth, and I think that we, as citizens, should be clearing our own walks.
This would be a good exercise in community building and a chance for us all to be neighbourly.
