Thumbs down to Trib, city hall

I am getting fed up with the people at your newspaper telling the rest of us how to live our lives.  I am specifically referring to your “Thumbs Down” to people using air conditioners this time of year.

First off, if I want to run my air conditioner, what business is it of yours? Second, I would love to open a window as you suggest, but my (and a lot other people’s) seasonal allergies are extremely bad this year.

There are two reasons for this, both of which go back to city council. Due to the pesticide ban, weeds are abundant across the lawns and boulevards of this city. In addition, due to the fact that we can’t water our grass, most of our lawns have withered, leaving weeds (which don’t seem to need much water) to flourish. This severely affects our allergies, causing breathing problems and restless sleeping. So if you want to open a window, go right ahead. But thanks to the decisions of council, if I want a good night’s sleep, I need to keep my windows closed and my air conditioner on.
