It appears the dream to turn the former civic museum building on Dublin Street into a centre for the arts is coming true. Last Thursday’s opening of a new public art gallery on half of the main floor is a big step in the new owners’ goal of transforming the building into a dynamic centre for the visual arts – with artists’ studios, art-related teaching, public activities and more. The Boarding House for the Arts, as it’s now called, even evokes memories of past building uses. It’s a very welcome addition to the city.
