Humane Society is the cat’s meow
Letters
Mar 11, 2010
From my front porch, I watched an injured cat scramble up the snowbank towards a field on Whitelaw Road. As I followed him, he lay down in the snow. His leg was injured, but then I saw a severe head injury.

Running inside, I grabbed a blanket and phoned the Guelph Humane Society. They were there quickly to assist. We bundled him up into the van.

Later, I went door-to-door in the neighbourhood hoping to see if anyone was missing a cat. Perhaps this was a stray? I didn’t think this cat had a chance.

This injured black and white cat haunted me. I visited the humane society, expecting the cat needed to be euthanized. Why would the humane society go to the expense of saving this one cat when so many are homeless?

To my joy, they told me the cat was at a local vet clinic, which phoned on the spot to give me an update. He was doing okay.

Now, if you think that is good news, the best is still to come. This cat was returned to his family, which had been searching for him. He is much loved. Thanks to the Guelph Humane Society and its caring, professional staff. A more difficult, more expensive route to save this cat was taken. We are all grateful. And to everyone in Guelph, please support our humane society.
