Celtics off to OFSAA

The Bishop Macdonell Celtics senior boys basketball team has earned a berth in the OFSAA AA championships.

The Celtics won the OFSAA qualifying tournament (previously called CWOSSA) on Friday night at Our Lady of Lourdes high school in Guelph.

Bishop Mac topped Centre Dufferin 57-47 in the championship game. 

The Celtics beat Lourdes 53-33 in the semifinals.

The Celtics also claimed the crown in the junior tournament.

They beat Lourdes 41-34 in the championship game Friday.

Both Celtics squads won the District 10 title six days earlier.

The AA OFSAA senior championship takes place March 4 to 6 in York Region.

There is no OFSAA championship for junior ball.

At the AAAA OFSAA senior qualifying tournament at John F. Ross Saturday, the Centennial Spartans went 1-1 to advance to the semifinals.

Centennial lost that semifinal game 65-63 in overtime Monday against St. Mary’s of Kitchener.

The Ross Royals went 0-2 Saturday were eliminated.

In the junior tourney, Centennial was 0-2 and didn’t advance to the semifinals.
