The Bishop Macdonell Celtics field hockey team picked a great time to go on a winning streak.
The Celtics, who finished in fifth in the District 10 standings with a below-.500 record of 3-4-0, put together five straight wins to claim the District 10 championship.
In the finals, last Wednesday at the University of Guelph, Bishop Mac topped Centennial 2-1. Victoria Hinchcliffe scored both Celtics goals in the win and Presley Buchanan tallied for Centennial.
The Spartans were third in the league in the regular season with a 5-1-1 record.
In the semifinals, the Celtics upset first-place Centre Wellington 1-0 on a Hinchcliffe goal. Centre Wellington was 6-1-0, scoring 40 goals and allowing just two.
At the CWOSSA championships in Kitchener, Bishop Mac missed the playoffs after going 1-1-1 in group play.
