Eight straight for Gryphons

The University of Guelph Gryphons women’s hockey team swept a pair of home games on the weekend.

Guelph beat Windsor 2-0 on Sunday and Western 3-1 on Saturday.

Sunday’s win was the Gryphons’ eighth in a row in Ontario University Athletics play.

On Sunday, Amanda Parkins and Jessica Pinkerton tallied for Guelph while Stephanie Nehring earned the shutout in net.

Saturday, Pinkerton scored twice in the win over Western. Guelph native Tamara Bell had a single.

The Gryphons (15-3-2) host York (4-11-3) on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

On Friday, the University of Guelph Gryphons men’s hockey team hosts its Frosty Mug game at the Sleeman Centre.

The Waterloo Warriors visit the downtown rink, home of the Guelph Storm, for a 7:30 p.m. game Friday.
Guelph is 12-6-2 on the season while Waterloo is 9-7-4.
