Field day for Spartans

The Centennial Spartans completed an undefeated season by winning the District 10/4 field hockey championship on Monday at home.

Bea Harrietha scored a second-half goal for Centennial and that was enough as the Spartans topped Norwell 1-0 to take the title on a sunny and warm afternoon.

Centennial was 6-0-2 in regular season play before three playoff wins.

Monday’s win was the school’s first District 10/4 field hockey championship win since the 2008-2009 school year.

That title was the Spartans fifth straight.

Both Centennial and Norwell will compete at the CWOSSA championships this weekend in Kitchener.
