Doug Bricknell golfed 75 holes in an ALS fundraiser on Thursday.

Fore! A great cause

Doug Bricknell eyes his shot during his golfing fundraiser on Thursday morning at Victoria Park Valley golf course.

Bricknell golfed 75 holes on the day for his 75 Hole Golf Challenge Supporting ALS Society. The Bishop Macdonell graduate, now a student at Western University in London, Ont., finished the 75 holes in eight hours and 12 minutes.

As of Saturday morning, the event had raised more than $2,600.

The significance of the number 75 was to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Lou Gehrig’s speech announcing his retirement from professional baseball due to complications related to his illness.
