The Grand River Gargoyles dropped their season opening Ontario Australian Football League game against the Central Blues Saturday by a 61-41 score at home.
Goal kickers for the Gargoyles were Adam Millen and Matthew O’Regan, with two each, Andrew Matthews and Zack Macdonald.
It was the first game for the team as they Grand River Gargoyles. They were previously called the Guelph Gargoyles. The team plays its home games at Margaret Greene Park in Guelph.
The final score of the match was 8.13-61 to 6.5-41.
Prior to the game, Grand River honoured Bruce Parker in to their hall of fame in the founders category, said a news release.
The Gargoyles face the High Park Demons on Saturday in Hamilton.
