The University of Guelph men’s basketball Gryphons were defeated on back-to-back nights by Lakehead at home on the weekend.

Saturday, Guelph lost 79-66.

Ahmed Haroon scored 19 points for the Gryphons and Dan McCarthy had 17.

Guelph trailed the game 25-13 after the first quarter.

Friday, Lakehead outscored Guelph 48-19 total in the second and third quarters on their way to an 87-55 win. No Gryphons players reached double digits in points. Trevor Thompson scored eight points.

Lakehead improved to 12-5 with the wins and Guelph fell to 5-12.

Guelph visits McMaster (10-7) Feb. 6 at 8 p.m.
