A last-minute goal by Guelph native Courtney Whiteside gave the Guelph Gryphons women’s soccer team a 2-1 road win over Waterloo on Sunday.
The win gave the Gryphons an unblemished 4-0-0 record this season. They’ve scored eight goals and conceded just one.
Erica Bain also scored in Sunday’s victory.
Saturday at home, Guelph shut out York 3-0. Bain had a pair of goals and Whiteside had one. Alexandra King made five saves for the shutout in net.
The Gryphons visit Laurier (2-1-1) Friday at 8 p.m.

Men’s soccer: The Gryphons beat Waterloo 2-1 on the road Sunday and lost 2-0 to York at home Saturday.
Jared Agyemang scored twice in the win.

Men’s rugby: The Guelph Gryphons men’s rugby team opened their 2013 season by beating McMaster 24-16 at home on Friday night.
Guelph trys came from Eric Charest-Pekeski, with two, Stephen Seccareccia and Scott Sopel. Joe Newman kicked a pair of converts in the win.

Women’s rugby: The Gryphons opened their 2013 campaign with a 43-5 road win over Waterloo Friday.
Guelph trys came from Daria Keane, with two, Kendra Blackbourn, Rita Charest-Pekeski, Devon Keys, Caitlyn McNally and Shannon Spurrell. Stephanie Tibelius kicked two converts.
Guelph hosts Western Saturday at 1 p.m.

Baseball: The Guelph Gryphons baseball team is off to a 3-1 start after a pair of wins Sunday.
Guelph beat McMaster 10-8 and Wilfrid Laurier 3-1 Sunday. Their scheduled game Saturday against Brock was postponed. Friday, Guelph fell 4-3 to Ryerson. Details of the games were not available.
The Gryphons opened their schedule with a 4-3 win over Western Wednesday. Guelph native Justin Interisano was 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Pitcher Lucas Borges pitched six innings of scoreless, one-hit baseball.
Guelph hosts Queen’s Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Hastings Stadium.
