The Guelph Gryphons women’s hockey team has ended 2012 on a six-game winning streak.
On the weekend, they beat Brock 5-4 and Toronto 5-2. Guelph outshot their foes 72-29 in the two wins.
Against Brock, goals came from Amanda Parkins, Christine Grant and Guelph natives Tamara Bell, Kaitlyn Mora and Kandace Charbonneau.
Versus Toronto, Bell tallied twice and singles came from Grant, Jessica Pinkerton and Emily Corbett. Mora had three assists.
Bell, a Centennial CVI graduate, was named the University of Guelph’s female athlete of the week.
Guelph is 13-3-2, good for 28 points and third in the OUA. Laurier leads with 30 points and Queen’s is second with 29.
Men’s hockey: The Gryphons closed the 2012 portion of their schedule with a win and a loss in Windsor on the weekend.
Guelph lost 5-2 Saturday and won 3-2 Friday. Andy Bathgate scored both goals Saturday while Matthew Lyall, Phil Teri and Cameron Odam scored Friday.
Guelph enters the break with an 11-6-1 record, good for 23 points and third place in the OUA West. Windsor is second with 24 points and Western is first with 26.
