The Guelph Hurricanes had a loss and a shootout win in a pair of Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League games on the weekend.
Guelph lost 5-2 to Elmira at home Saturday, a day after getting past Stratford 2-1 in a shootout on the road.
On Saturday, Lucas Pozzobon put Guelph up 1-0 in the first period before Elmira, which is 9-2-0 on the season, scored five straight goals.
Craig Martini tallied for the Hurricanes in the third frame.
Friday, Guelph’s lone goal against Stratford (4-4-2) came from Corey Flemington. Hurricanes goalie Stormer Santana made 43 saves in the win. Lawrence Pagnan, the fifth shooter, was the lone player from either team to score in the shootout. Stratford went 0-for-5 in their breakaways.
The Hurricanes (4-5-0) host Waterloo (6-3-1) on Friday. Game time is at 7:30 p.m. at the Sleeman Centre.
