Hurricanes top dynamite Dutchmen

The Guelph Hurricanes got past the conference-leading Kitchener Dutchmen 4-3 in a shootout Saturday at the Sleeman Centre.

Kitchener, which has a sparkling 33-5-4 record, tied the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League game 3-3 with their goalie pulled and less than a minute to go in the third period.

In regulation, Matt Nightingale scored twice for Guelph and Craig Martini scored the single. Matt Lippa had the lone shootout goal for either team to give the Hurricanes the victory.

Guelph (19-20-5) hosts Cambridge (20-15-5) Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Sleeman Centre.
