It’s all Guelph in Sunday’s soccer semi-finals

A Kitchener and District Soccer League semi-final game on Sept. 23 will be an all-Guelph affair after a first-round victory Sunday night by the Guelph Oaks.
The Oaks defeated the Polish Eagles 4-2 in a game at Woodside Park in Kitchener, with Oaks player Imran Volney scoring three goals.
The Oaks face the Guelph Rangers next Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Centennial Bowl on College Avenue in Guelph.
In the first-round victory over the Eagles, the Oaks netted an early goal within the first 10 minutes as the Eagles keeper handled a back-pass five yards off the goal line. Volney saw his free kick rebounded twice before Will Flanigan finally squeezed it through.
The Eagles were far from done, though, as they tied it up 1-1 and then quickly made it 2-1 to take the lead. Then, a hard shot from Imran Volney tied it up 2-2 before the teams went into the half.
The second half saw Volney bank another goal after a fine lead-off pass from striker Kafui  Hotsonyame at the 55-minute mark.  The Eagles kept on threatening, but another blast from Volney rattled the post and went in with 10 minutes to go.
