Katherine MacTavish had more than half of her team’s points as the Guelph Gryphons upset No. 7-ranked Wilfrid Laurier 66-64 on the road Saturday in OUA women’s basketball play.
Playing against a hometown team, the Waterloo native scored 34 points for Guelph. MacTavish was a perfect 14-for-14 from the free-throw line, and was 10-for-16 from the field. Marlee Freeman scored 12 points for the Gryphons, who improve to 6-10 on the season, as Laurier fell to 13-3.
Guelph visits Western (11-5) Wednesday at 6 p.m.
Also this past Saturday, the men’s Gryphons outscored Laurier 23-10 in the fourth quarter for an 84-81 win. Taylor Boers had 16 points for Guelph and Zachary Angus hit for 15
The Gryphons (5-11) are at Western (6-10) Wednesday for an 8 p.m. game.
