A chip-shot field goal with 14 seconds left in regulation time has lifted the Guelph Gryphons football team to a 4-1 record.
Guelph spoiled Wilfrid Laurier’s Homecoming celebration Saturday afternoon by downing them 22-19 in Waterloo.
Daniel Ferraro, who was 2-for-4 in field goals on the day, kicked the late three-pointer from nine yards out to give Guelph the victory.
Gryphon quarterback Jazz Lindsey was 20-for-32 passing, for 247 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.
On the ground, Robert Farquharson carried the ball 22 times for 178 yards. In the air, Michael Fortino had three catches for 96 yards and a TD. Saxon Lindsey had four catches for 53 yards and a major.
Defensively, Jake Reinhart and John Rush each had 6.5 tackles. Iain Hutchison had two interceptions and Byran Dunjko had one.

Guelph hosts Western (3-2) on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.
