National champs!

The U16AA Guelph Predators won the national ringette title on the weekend in Regina, Sask.

The locals, who were representing Ontario at the event as provincial champions, went undefeated and beat the Central Alberta Sting 6-5 in the championship game on Saturday.Guelph outshot their foes 63-31 in the game.

Nicole Shaw had four goals and an assist for the champions while Madison Jarvis had a goal and three assists. Anna Lawrence had a goal while Gillian Marrow had three assists and Selena Case recorded one.

The Guelph U19AA Predators dropped their final two games Friday at their national championships, also in Regina.

Guelph, which was also representing Ontario, lost 5-1 to Team Manitoba, the eventual champs, and 7-5 to Nepean. Against Manitoba, Jessica Mezenberg scored while Abby Richardson had a hat trick against Nepean.

Meghan Lanteigne and Megan McGuire also scored, with McGuire chalking up three assists also. Trisha Rowsell had two assists.
