Otters force Game 5

The Erie Otters beat the Guelph Storm 5-2 Tuesday night to stay alive in their best-of-seven OHL Western Conference final series.

Guelph now leads the series three games to one.

Zack Mitchell gave the Storm a 1-0 lead 1:15 into the game, before Erie scored three straight first period goals, and it would be all they would need for the win.

Kerby Rychel also tallied for the Storm.

The Otters out-shot Guelph 44-28 in the game, played in front of an announced crowd of 4,012 in Erie.

Storm goalie Justin Nichols got pulled in the first period after allowing three goals on 11 shots. Matthew Mancina replaced him and stopped 31 of 32 Erie shots.

Guelph can win the series at home with a win Friday in Game 5. Start time is 7:30 p.m. at the Sleeman Centre.
