Three games were decided by a total of eight points as the District 10 high school football season kicked off late last week.
In the last of the three tilts, Friday afternoon, the John F. Ross Royals, the defending champions, earned a 7-2 road victory over the St. James Lions.
Tommy Yanchus had a touchdown for the victors while Dominic Janus had a single point. Andrew Zamin was credited for the Lions’ two points.
Earlier that afternoon, at Our Lady of Lourdes, the visiting Guelph CVI Green Gaels battled back to beat the Crusaders 23-21. Scoring details were not provided.
The season kicked off on Thursday afternoon with Orangeville beating Centennial 1-0 on the road. The teams battled to a scoreless draw before Orangeville got the winning play, a rouge, in overtime.
