Three-pitch

Pitching in

Alex Garbuio of the Holy Rosary Hoyas delivers a pitch during the Wellington Catholic District School Board’s boys’ three-pitch championship tournament on Thursday at Larry Pearson Park.

Both the girls and boys tournaments took place last week at the facility.

In the girls tourney, St. Ignatius school won the large schools event, St. Patrick won medium schools and Holy Rosary won for small schools. The same was the case for the boys tourney as St. Ignatius (big), St. Patrick (medium) and Holy Rosary (small) were victorious.

The event saw more than $350 raised through pizza and freezie sales for the Eric Goegan Scholarship Fund. The fund is in honour of Eric Goegan, a Bishop Macdonell high school student and a baseball standout who died in a car accident in 2012. Students from Bishop Macdonell umpired the three-pitch tournaments and operated concessions.
