Royals swept away

The Guelph Royals season has come to an end after they got swept by the Brantford Red Sox in the first round of the Intercounty Baseball League playoffs.

Brantford won 10-6 at home Wednesday night to take the best-of-five series three games to none.

The Royals blew multiple-run leads in all three of the games. Wednesday, they led 6-3 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, where Brantford scored six runs.

Guelph led Game 1 early by a 3-0 score, and led Game 2 late by an 11-3 score.

Wednesday, Chandler McLaren had two RBIs in the losing cause. Keith Kandel had three hits while Tino Silvestri had two.

Former Royals pitcher Andrew Van’t Wout got the win for Brantford.
