Schwindt the winner

Eric Schwindt of Guelph was the top finisher in the 5km race at Sunday morning’s diaBEAT Guelph Lake 5km and 10km races.

He crossed the finish line in a time of 18:19.9. Top female in the race was Mary Thompson of Woodstock, in a time of 19:02.0, which put her at fourth overall.

Winning the 10km event was Guelph’s Josh Kramer in 36:29.5. Top female and second place overall was Valerie Cote of Guelph in 37:35.1.

The annual races raise funds for diabetes awareness in the community.

More than 200 competitors completed the events, which included a walking challenge as well.
